Tech Tronix is owned and operated by Tony Georgeson, in Fergus Falls, MN

Intel's newest processor line, called Core 2, is a ninth-generation x86 architecturemicroprocessor produced by Intel based on an all-new CPU architecture called the Intel Core microarchitecture, which is the successor of NetBurst microarchitecture that has powered most Intel processors since 2000. Core 2 also marks the retirement of Intel's Pentium brand name that has been used from 1993 and the reunion of Intel's notebook and desktop product lines since Pentium M was released apart from Pentium 4 in 2003. (taken from Wikipedia, 2006). The latest performance line includes the Core 2 Quad systems for maximum speed.

The Athlon 64 X2 is the first dual-coredesktopCPU manufactured by AMD. It is essentially a processor consisting of two Athlon 64 cores joined together on one die with some additional control logic. The cores share one dual-channel memory controller, are based on the E-stepping model of Athlon 64 and, depending on the model, have either 512 or 1024 KiB of L2-Cache per core. The X2 is capable of decoding SSE3 instructions (except those few specific to Intel's architecture), so it can run and benefit from software optimizations that were previously only supported by Intel chips. This enhancement is not unique to the X2, and is also available in the recently released Venice and San Diego single core Athlon 64's. AMD officially started shipping the Athlon 64 X2 at Computex, on 1 June2005. (taken from Wikipedia, 2006)

Intel Leap Ahead is a registered tradmark of Intel Corporation. Athlon X2 is a registered trademark of Advanced Micro Devices.
